Maintenance / Support
Life Cycle
Business Application Support: The key focus area of CrossUSA is to
provide a long-term strategic alternative to clients for software
development and support of their installed and operational business
system software. This service most closely resembles an “outsourcing
relationship” where a company chooses an outside vendor to take over
support and maintenance of a software application. CrossUSA has taken
over support for an entire software application, or suite of
applications for several clients. Leveraging the advantages of the
Rural Development Center (RDC) model, CrossUSA provides software
development and support at a significantly lower cost than the
client’s own internal or contract programming resources.
Staff
Augmentation and Re-skilling of Resources: One significant
challenge most IT organizations face is implementing new technologies
while providing support for existing ones. As companies develop new
technologies and applications, a key requirement is the availability
of IT staff with company business expertise, who understands the
business process of the company. In most cases, this expertise is more
valuable to the company than their technical expertise. Unfortunately,
most organizations are forced to utilize valuable staff to provide
support for the existing legacy application.
CrossUSA
offers the service of utilizing our software development staff to
support some, most, or all of the legacy application support, thus
“freeing up” the client’s IT staff to be re-focused into new
technology initiatives. CrossUSA is then positioned to provide support
for these applications for the long term, until the client no longer
needs them. In addition to the benefit of enabling clients to re-skill
their staff, CrossUSA can also provide the application support at a
lower cost.
Support of
“Sun-Setting” Applications: This service is similar to the above
staff augmentation, with the difference primarily being the strategic
objective of the client. In this service, CrossUSA takes over support
of an existing application while the client’s staff is refocused to
build the new application or provide the necessary customizations to a
purchased package. The traditional IT models utilize high priced
domestic on-site independent contractors to maintain the old
application or to build the new application. In either case,
development costs are extremely high, because staff augmentation is
accomplished with high priced contractors (normally $80-$100+/hour).
The strategic benefits that CrossUSA provides with this service are
flexibility and low cost (average cost of $55/hour), which allows
clients to maximize the value of the RDC, implementing new
technologies easily and more cost-effectively.
