Scott Simpson

Scott Simpson

Director of Human Resources

Scott joined CrossUSA in March of 2011; coming to us with over 10 years of Human Resources management experience. His passion lies in supporting and developing others within their career and life paths. He has always had a proven positive impact in the morale and retention of the teams he has had the pleasure to work with and hopes to have the same impact with CrossUSA.

Scott was born in Waverly, IA, a small college town just north of Waterloo. However, he calls Minnesota home, as his family moved to Rochester when he was in 3rd grade and he continues to enjoy the multiple opportunities Minnesota provides to enjoy the great outdoors. His hobbies include camping, hiking, talking walks with his wife and their two dogs, riding his motorcycle and playing hockey.

Scott graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. After graduating, Scott joined Kmart and had a very successful career in retail management for almost 27 years. Prior to joining Cross, Scott worked for Gap Inc., specifically assigned to the Old Navy store at the Mall of America as their Human Resources Manager. In this role, Scott provided HR support for not only a staff of over 180 associates, but also for the other old Navy stores in the metro area, and in a regional capacity as well when needed. Many of the employee wellness and retention programs now in place at Old Navy were created by Scott during his tenure with that company.

Although most of Scott’s work experience does come from the retail sector, and his role with Cross will be of a generalist nature due to its wide scope, he looks forward to being able to utilize the lessons learned in the fast paced retail environment to be able to provide excellent service to both the internal and external customers at CrossUSA.
